Please note: We ask parents to
be certain that wildlife is treated gently and with respect,
and is then returned to its habitat promptly - never taken
from its home. Lapland Lake is an ideal location to
teach youngsters about our responsibility to the environment
and care of nature. We thank you in advance.
If you are traveling from south to
north, follow directions in brochure carefully. The New
York State Thruway is Route 87 from NYC to Albany. From
Albany, the NYS Thruway heads west toward Buffalo and
becomes Route 90. Follow the NYS Thruway all the way through
and pay toll at Exit 27 Amsterdam. Follow balance of
directions to Lapland Lake.
No vehicles
permitted at the lake. Please inquire regarding
exceptions for those with health conditions.
Fishing licenses are required for those
over 16 years of age and may be processed in advance of your
visit. Please request an application from Lapland Lake
at least 2 weeks in advance of your stay.
Lodging guests
may arrive at 11am to enjoy swimming, canoeing, fishing,
hiking,
mountain biking and other public facilities until their tupa
is prepared. If a tupa was not rented the night prior, in
most instances guests will be able to settle in as early as
11am. When tupas are changing over from guest to guest, we
endeavor to have cleaning completed by 4pm. However, during
excessively active lodging periods, tupas may be prepared
somewhat later.
Check-out time
is 11am; but guests are welcome to enjoy our public facilities
until 4pm on the day of departure. A public shower/changing room
is available for use at the end of the day. (If a guest's tupa
is not rented on the evening of departure, a 4pm check-out may
be arranged for a nominal fee of $20/adult and $10/child ages
6-17). Please verify availability of late check-out with office
staff.
The sauna is open daily. In
keeping with Finnish tradition, separate men’s and women’s
hours are available each afternoon.
Advance reservations advised for rental
of bicycles, bike trailers (tow 1-2 young children),
“Baby Joggers” (large-wheeled strollers suitable for our
gravel roadways - children thru age 4 ), and baby back
carriers. Helmets provided.
Cribs & Cots are available at no
charge. Please reserve in advance.
Our retail shop carries a nice
selection of items including hiking and nature guides,
t-shirts, sweat shirts, Finnish specialty items, bug spray,
suntan lotion, etc
