Jill Barra has received her certification as level one avalanche and mountaineering rescue. She has been a patroller for Lapland Lake since the 1998-99 winter season. When not patrolling, Jill is a public health nurse for
the New York State Department of Health. In the warmer months Jill enjoys working in the yard, camping, hiking and kayaking. She is also part of a local running group and runs several times a week with friends or her dogs. Her favorite
trail at Lapland Lake is Sisu because it winds quietly in the woods and passes
by the swing seat alongside the gurgling brook.
