Lapland Lake is a stunning winter wonderland, and over 100 very excited skiers & snowshoers were here to enjoy winter on Friday! We have received 13 – 15″ of new snow since Wednesday!
We have early season conditions on 10km of trails which are machine groomed but not trackset. Easier trails which are open include Lake Trail, Vasa, Era Polku & the Practice Field.
More difficult trails open are Kippis, Joki & Sisu. 12km of snowshoe trails and one of our junior tubing hills are open as well. Trails open Saturday at 9am.
Ski trail surface is packed powder. Base averages 2 – 6″. The ground was wet when the snow fell. As such, snow is melting from underneath, and there are a few wet spots. There will be portions of the trails with a full 6″ depth and other portions – under trees, out in the open – where the depth will be less. If you have a choice, bring older or rock skis.
Ski, snowshoe & tube rentals are available. Facility use for those without Season Pass Memberships is $10.
Saturday is expected to be cloudy with a high of 28.
Quick notes: 30% off all new in-stock skis and ski packages
This was the offer for last weekend’s Open House, but so many of you thought Open House was this coming weekend, we are extending the discount through Sunday.
We will offer free hot chocolate, coffee and tea Saturday and Sunday, but there will be no food service, so please pack your turkey day leftovers! Lessons are expected to get underway 12/6.
If you plan to ski & snowshoe 8 times this season, a Lapland Lake Season Pass Membership is a good investment. If you purchase before midnight Sunday, you will save $30 per person.
Additionally, all children in your family ages 17 & under receive free Memberships when at least one parent purchases a 2014-15 Season Pass Membership!
